EDF Energy also confirmed the selection of a Kier BAM joint venture as preferred bidder for the £100m site clear-up contract at Hinkley Point C, as first revealed by the Enquirer.
The job includes excavation, earthworks, terracing, installation of construction site infrastructure and formation of roads and networks to allow main construction to begin.
The preparatory works will be followed by the main construction works which will see over 20,000 people work on site over the course of the project.
EDF Energy also announced a £15m investment to establish a national nuclear training centre in partnership with Bridgwater College in Somerset to address potential skills shortages in the energy sector.
