The new £7.5m deal is for a Low Secure Unit (LSU) and work will begin in November on the 30-bed facility, plus offices and additional parking.
Joe Peers, Director of Estates and Facilities said: “We are delighted to have appointed Integrated Health Projects as the principal supply chain partner to lead the development on our site in Prestwich.
“The development will be a huge boost for our patients and staff, and enable the trust to continue to successfully achieve our objectives.”
Dave Spencer, Senior Project Manager from IHP, added: “Securing another contract with the Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is validation that it’s more than a partnership that works; it’s proof that we have the experience and know-how to construct a new unit that meets the specific needs of both the people that will make use of the Edenfield Centre and the medical team that will oversee it.”
The low security facility construction follows directly on from the second contract to expand Edenfield Centre’s Medium Secure Unit (MSU), which is due for completion in October.
The first of the three contracts with this Health Trust was awarded to IHP in November 2011.
This resulted in the creation of Junction 17; a £10m, two-storey, Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) in-patient facility.
