The new machines will be used on a contract with water company Severn Trent to handle bio solids both in liquid and cake form from sewage treatment works.
The contractor has been operating Volvo loading shovels and excavators for the past eight years.
Director Tony Wright said: “We use the excavators to stockpile material at the receiving end of the cycle before it’s spread on fields as organic fertilizer.”
In order to minimize damage to farmers’ fields in the spreading operation the excavators have specially modified buckets with an increase in capacity and a rounded bar on the leading edge of the bucket lip.
