CHC’s fleet currently includes 100 items of operated plant, though the fleet is now on target to grow by 5% each year.
Currently, the firm has a fleet of 69 excavators ranging from five-tonne minis up to a 70t heavyweight earthmover, a fleet of low ground pressure dozers equipped with 3D GPS, self-propelled rollers and a fleet of 28 articulated dumptrucks.
CHC’s plant director Sean Isherwood said: “We are purchasing new equipment to ensure we continue to supply the very best machinery available to the industry and stay ahead as the sector starts to recover.”
The deal includes 12 ADT’s comprising a mix of four A30E and eight A40E models, supported by two EC140C, five EC210C, four EC360C, one EC460C and an EC700C excavator.
In addition, two ECR88 and two ECR58 midi excavators complete the package.
Volvo’s CareTrack telematics system is being supplied on all new equipment to help CHC to closely monitor fuel use and improve productivity and efficiency.
This system reduces down time and lowers fuel consumption and emissions.
“Escalating fuel cost is becoming a very big issue to everyone and if we can use CareTrack to help cut-down on idle time, while monitoring how kit is being utilised, we can get closer to being 100 per cent efficient in everything we do,” said Isherwood.
