The Jost hydraulic luffing tower crane lost part of its jib on the evening before Christmas Eve. It was left swinging dangerously by its hoist rope in high winds and forced Essex police to evacuate 40 people from nearby homes as a precaution.
Essex Fire and Rescue said: “The boom of the crane collapsed and was left hanging. Luckily no one was hurt and it has now been made safe.”
